Product Description
This MASSIVE vintage Bitossi lidded jar came from a gorgeous, fresco-laden 1920s mansion on Milwaukee's iconic Lake Drive. I've long been a fan of Bitossi, the Italian pottery house founded in 1921. This Lidded Vessel, produced in the mid-20th century under renowned creative director Aldo Londi, stood out among the estate's exquisite collection of housewares because of it's striking turquoise color and substantial size; at 18" tall, it makes quite a visual statement!
This highly collectible, versatile piece can serve as an art object, functional storage, or if you remove the lid, it can act as a gorgeous vase. I love the texture on this piece: the way the bright turquoise glaze is tempered by bits of dark grey glaze that add depth and dimension to the surface. The pop of blue along the rim adds a monochromatic accent. Signed. Made in Italy.
