This year we have 40+ shops, galleries, and restaurants, including Dovetail, who are hosting local artists in their businesses weekend long! And I’ll be having a mystery balloon pop sale 🎈Hope to see you! This year, Dovetail is hosting two great local artists and showcasing a a special collection made by Dovetail owner Julie Ghatan.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 2

Celebrate our latest Rénover collection, inspired by the drawings of Jean Cocteau. The Cocteau Collection features vintage 1950s evening bags with hand-embroidered images of Cocteau line drawings. I've meticulously crafted each one using the finest fibers: silk, merino wool, and mohair. Each piece is one of one. This collection will be released on Friday at 5pm during the West Town Art Walk! Swing by to see them in person.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 3

Join Dovetail as we welcome Chicago metalsmith Kelly Novak and her line of handmade jewelry. Novak’s collections feature nostalgia, humor, and traditions revised. Novak creates light sculptural pieces by exploring processes of powder coating, anodizing, and resin casting. Novak is a tenured Art Teacher with Chicago Public Schools, where she has created a metalsmithing course and studio for advanced art students at Lane Tech.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 4

Allison Orr is an artist based in Evanston, whose work spans ceramics, textiles, and paints. Orr’s love of nature is a constant theme throughout her work, incorporating animals and florals into many of her ceramic pieces, while utilizing high-quality natural fibers in her textiles. The slow process of creating her pieces is a labor a love that Orr hopes will be enjoyed for generations to come.
